Tina Turner asks an excellent question: what, if anything, does love have to do with it? And we could ask this same question of this week's texts. How has the emergence of a social narrative detailing romantic love made its way into print culture? And to what ends? As we discussed in class, to this point most marriages were arranged. In light of that information, could a dependence on romantic love been seen as a rejection of the patriarchal structure? Or since all these women were victimized by their love, should marriage be (perhaps, still?) arranged? Please discuss these ideas and questions in your post.

I am very sorry my post is a few hours late. I was having internet trouble with my wireless connection and had to get help at the TCU library.
My post is, well, about a week late : (
I'm so sorry as I didn't come to class last week and had so much to do in other classes I didn't even check for a new post as I figured since class was cancelled it just wasn't even on my mind.
Anyway, I apologize and hope you can still give me partial credit for at least doing it late!
Ok my post is late also. I didn't even think about us having another post for last week since the one before was due then too and I wasn't in class on Tuesday either. So sorry about this!
